Semi Finals:

Michael Smyth (AGC) has won a thrilling NSW Amateur Semi Final against NSW' Scott Arnold at The Australian. Smyth had taken a commanding 6 hole lead after 18 holes, but the lead was whittled back with the match all square after 33 holes.  Smyth then steadied with pars at 34,35 and 36 before a birdie at the 37th hole proved the difference.

Smyth goes on to meet Scotland's Ross Kellett who battled all day with Long Reef's Brett Drewitt.  This match contrasted the other with the lead fluctuating all day.  Wins at the 33rd, 34th and 35th holes saw Kellett move into the Final with a 2/1 victory.

Round 2 Story:

The NSW Amateur Quarter Finalists have been determined at The Australian Golf Club.

Home course advantage proved to be vital in Michael Smyth's 2/1 win over 2007 Australian Junior Champion, Jason Scrivener (W.A.).  Last year's Runner Up Tim Hart (Qld) remains in the hunt after a thrilling 38th hole win against Brendan Smith.  Rhein Gibson and Scott Arnold were both too strong for their opponents Patrick Wilson and Adam Downton, while Englishman Charles Ford continues to impress with a 2/1 win over last year's Champion Michael Raseta.  Kyle Grant continued his good form with a 2/1 win over Justin Roach while Scot Ross Kellett won an extremely tight battle against Luke Humphries.
