Drewitt and Stieger Take Out Pacific Northwest Titles

Matthew Stieger (St Michael's), won the Charles Henry Davis Medalist Award at the 109th PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship held at Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, British Columbia, after 36-hole stroke play.  Brett Drewitt (Long Reef) went on to then take out the Match Play title.

MATCH PLAY

Brett Drewitt has won the 109th Pacific Northwest Amateur Championship held at Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, British Columbia with a 4&3 victory over American, Cory Renfrew.

STROKEPLAY

Matthew Stieger (St Michael's), won the Charles Henry Davis Medalist Award at the 109th PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship held at Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, British Columbia, after 36-hole stroke play qualifying.



Stieger made a birdie on the second playoff hole to defeat Kevin Penner, a UNLV Sophmore golfer from Sammamish, Wash., and Mitchell Evanecz a University of Victoria Senior golfer from Red Deer, Alberta. All three players shot a 36-hole total of 1-under par 139 to get into the playoff. Both Stieger and Penner shot even par 70 in their first round and followed it today with rounds of 1-under par 69. Evanecz had the low round of the day firing a 4-under par 66 to pair with his first round of 3-over par 73.

Long Reef's Brett Drewitt finished 14th in the stroke play, with the top 64 players entering the match play event.
